What's the difference between Cable Internet Service and Satellite Internet Service?Written by: Brad Dudley - Mar 12, 2010
Well, most of the difference is in the way it is delivered. Cable Internet Service comes into your home or office via a cable, just like cable tv. Satellite internet service is delivered by a satellite in earth's orbit. You then have a receiver that picks up the signal from the satellite. There are some benefits to both high speed internet services. You can probably get Cable Internet Service and Cable Television from the same provider. This helps keep costs lower. These providers usually offer a discount when you bundle services. However, you also may get a discount for bundling satellite services, too. Satellite Internet Service Providers would like you to believe cable speeds are affected more by traffic, but the fact of the matter is, satellite is affected much more by the latency of the signal from the satellite. Our sugguestion is, if you have to choose between cable and satellite, go with cable internet service.
